Why use TotoPDF AI PDF Summarizer?

Key points first

Highlights the most important sentences and ideas.

Adjustable length

From a brief overview to a detailed digest.

AI or offline

Uses an AI model when enabled; otherwise a built-in extractive summariser runs in your browser.

Text only is sent

When AI is used, only extracted text is sent – never the PDF file itself.

Getting useful summaries

Summaries work best on well-structured documents such as reports, research papers and articles. Choose bullet points for meeting prep and a paragraph summary when you need to paste an overview into an email.

Need the full text instead? Use PDF to TXT. Reading in another language? Translate PDF can help, and PDF to Markdown prepares documents for note-taking apps.

How the summariser works

When the site AI service is enabled, TotoPDF sends only the extracted text to the configured AI model and returns a written summary. Without it, a built-in extractive summariser runs entirely in your browser, ranking sentences by how central they are to the document and returning the most important ones. Either way, your PDF file itself is never uploaded and your documents are not used for training.

Frequently asked questions
